１１月２３日は勤労感謝の日ですが、英語では「Labor Thanksgiving Day」と訳されます。

アメリカでは、Labor DayとThanksgiving Dayという祝日が別々に定められており、それぞれ労働者に感謝する日と収穫祭という意味があります。

特にThanksgiving Dayは１１月の第４週に定められている、１年の中でもっとも重要なイベントです。

七面鳥などの豪華な食事をを親族や友人と一緒に食べたり、Black Fridayと呼ばれる翌日の金曜日には１年で一番大きなセールで買い物をしたりと、大忙しのイベントです。

最近ではBlack Fridayなどの大セールが日本のショッピングサイトでも多く見られるようになりましたね。

なかなか旅行に行くことのできない今、ご自宅で他国のイベントを楽しんでみるのもいいかもしれません(#^^#)
